I say Yes
Particularly because e.g. asciidoc has no problems with
any of this

In asciidoc the uri's all work « out of the box ».

No, I sure won't suggest this at all :)
As you've noticed, there's always a way to fix a problem, as you did yourself with the pre- and postprocessor. It's also possible to surround problematic links with "" "". There is an opened issue for this problem:
